Doug and Beth Baumgarten proudly display the SPORTFIT LAB colors in front of the Lab in Herndon, Virginia. In 2007, Doug founded Sportfit Consulting LLC to provide athlete testing and training services in Northern Virginia. With a Masters Degree in Exercise Science, Doug enjoyed a successful career as a personal trainer and fitness entrepreneur from 1979 to 2007. He also competed at the pro level in squash, an elite amateur level in baseball, coached baseball, football, and basketball, and has served as fastpitch softball official. In 2005, he met Beth (a budding triathlete) and took up cycling and triathlon -- immediate if demanding addictions. In 2010, after achieving additional certifications as a bike fitter, cycling coach, and bike maintenance expert, Doug opened SPORTFIT LAB in Herndon.
Beth enjoyed a distinguished career in the U.S. Government from 1981 to 2011. In 2005, she took up triathlon, having participated only recreationally in sports since college. Her dedication, hard work -- and some talent -- propelled Beth to early success in triathlon. Meeting Doug added an in-house scientific advisor, and by 2010 Beth was moving up in national age-group rankings. She has won or placed in numerous age-group triathlons, achieved All-American status, qualified for and finished the Kona Ironman World Championship, and qualified for the Olympic World Championships in 2012. Inspired to make triathlon her second career, Beth has acheived USA Triathlon Certification as a coach and American Swimming Coaches Association certification. She also holds a Masters Degree in Public Policy from George Mason University.
Beth and Doug are proud to have raised four children and now live in Stone Ridge, Virginia. They enjoy many recreational sports and also playing with the Sportfit Lab mascots (Pomeranians), Jake and BB. They are active in charities and looking forward to making Sportfit Lab the premier destination for endurance athletes in the area.
